Hey guys, it's been a while since the last blog post! We've done quite a few things during this time besides the normal screenings: we're publishing two articles in the Getamungstit magazine, got new sponsors, and hosted really exciting events! Things have been mighty busy but thought this was a good time to announce some housekeeping matters:
-NEW SPONSORS
The semester commenced with a call from Crestwood Bakery (in Molendinar, just 5 min away from GC campus) who have kindly donated breads and sweets to the club during its night-time screenings. They have been wonderfully generous with some awesome quality food. I would really encourage everyone to support this local business, and if you shine your GAS card, you will receive 10% OFF any purchase.
Our second sponsor is an all-online shop called Comics Delivered, which are selling exciting anime (past and present). The owner contacted us after searching and finding our website! If you would like anything from this store, just let one of the executives know and we can give you the discount code for 10% OFF any purchases (including specials and pre-orders). Please note, that all products are also FREE DELIVERY, which makes the purchases worth it.
-UPCOMING EVENTS
Semester 2 started off with a bang with Sponsor's Day and an epic sign-on day sponsored by Strike Bowling Bar & Timezone Surfers Paradise. We've also had our Girls of GAS event, which was particularly a proud moment in GAS' history, and something we really hope can be a more regular event. Note, our next event is Nostalgiathon 2015, which is this Friday. The upcoming month is also good for our Halloween special (TBA) and later in the year, we will be hosting our End of Year Dinner at Donto Sapporo. October is also the month of the annual Student Guild Awards, detailed below.
-STUDENT GUILD AWARDS NIGHT
We as a student committee for Griffith Anime Society have worked really hard this year to amp up our club with some very ambitious goals. We wanted to host bigger and better events, introduce a website with membership card to entice sponsors to come on board, and to increase enjoyment and satisfaction for all within the club. The executive committee is dedicated to improve your experiences at Griffith Anime Society, and this year, we are aiming for some club awards. We've nominated ourselves for the following:
If you feel that we are deserving of any of these awards, please feel free to nominate our team for any of the following prizes. which in turn will definitely improve our outreach within the university. I believe this is one of the few times we have even attempted to go for these awards too!
The link to make your nominations can be found here: http://gugcstudentguild.com.au/2015-student-guild-awards-3/
-COMMENTS, QUESTIONS?
As always, if you ever have any questions, suggestions or anything that we should be made aware of, please do not hesitate to contact us! You can even search through the Facebook page for our mid year survey and fill that out if you should be so inclined. We will read all the entries and comments!
