- We have hosted close to 50 events since January from regular screenings, to convention visits, movie nights, sponsor’s days, group dinners ..this is most probably more than any other club at Griffith.
- Our outreach on Facebook has increased ~50% from 211 members in January to 324 as of last week (Source: Facebook events). Our Facebook page is a vibrant community with almost daily posts by many different members.
- We created a membership card that increased full-fee paid membership by … a lot! The card was made within a 2-month period mid-year where we obtained over 12+ quality sponsors and special deals. We made a deal with Mithril Hand Gaming Society to share it all together.
- Designed a website to complement our Facebook, with full features such as a calendar, blog, sponsor’s page, sign-on form and other information. We get 250 visits (60 unique visitors) per week .
- Our stall on Sign-on day had Timezone & Strike Bowling representatives to make it more appealing (Pinball machines, showbags, vouchers, prizes).
- We placed all of our screening data (anime shown since the early 2000s) on a social media platform MyAnimeList, which is now visible to the public. This was a huge undertaking compiling lists from past and present members.
- We have established friendships with other anime clubs in the region, such as Bond Anime Club, and tried with the Brisbane universities.
- Sponsor’s day attracted close to 50 people with bowling, Timezone, dinner + Karaoke organised. Invited Mithril Hand Club, Zombie Appreciation Society, and Bond Anime to our event.
- Recaptured links with Australian anime distributors, such as Madman, Siren Visual, Hanabee.. Received movie tickets, $300 worth DVDs, and discounts for members.
- A successful attempt in getting more female members to participate in the club with Girls of GAS screening.
- Two articles approved for publication in the Getamungstit Magazine, and we are potentially regular contributors.
- Our executive committee work together cohesively on Facebook to organise all our events, and we try to accommodate to all with voting, especially the regular attendees.

After a successful year, Griffith Anime Society is looking for members to be involved with the running of the club. We’re looking for motivated, involved members to be part of any of the following tasks:
Event Manager Work with the executive committee with fitting in all the events we want to do on the calendar. As with other positions, this one focuses on bringing fresh, effective ideas and to create events that are cost-effective, exciting, and fun! Marketing: Sponsorship/Membership Liaison Work with local businesses, the Student Guild, and the club members to increase club membership and participation. Maintain relationships with current sponsors (ensure our members are adequately informed to support them, etc), and to create new opportunities of sponsorship. Communications Person(Facebook/Email/Advertising) We need reliable people to write emails, answer any questions, and Facebook event posts. Having a diverse knowledge in anime is preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Must be able to discern that the club members have diverse taste, and therefore, club communications must try to be impartial/more general in nature. Web/Graphic Design Person If you have that creative flair with a side of practicality, we want you! We make posters to distribute throughout campus, make banners for Facebook events, and other promotional things. These are often done in a quick turn-around of a few days at most! The website requires occasional updating, and whenever new technologies come, they can incorporate them into the club. Undergraduate Executives (NEW) Trialled in 2015, we have undergraduate executives that are able to join in on committee meetings and partake in multiple aspects of running the club. Note the above positions, and any official ones require members to work together, and share tasks. We felt that this was the best way since we understand members have other obligations outside of the club. Official executive committee positions such as - President (The organiser and the arbiter of all things) - Vice-President (The *actual* organiser and the arbiter of all things :P) - Secretary (The person who gets things done) - Treasurer (The person who says we can afford things or not) These positions are not normally voted on in the conventional manner (as many have stated, GAS is no democracy!) and are only given when a vacancy is made, or if there is a compelling argument to make a change. Normally, these positions are given to students who have shown longstanding service to the group, be it involvement in non-official roles, or have long expressed interest in the past. |
